History
The early stage: building a foundation
UnioTech was founded by two physicists who wanted to turn scientific expertise into real-world technologies. A small team of like-minded engineers soon formed around the same idea: combine deep technical thinking with practical implementation. Our journey started in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where we established our first R&D lab.
From Engineering Tasks to Full-Cycle Development
As the team grew, so did the scope of our work. We moved from individual technical tasks to supporting startups and small businesses across broader stages of product development. This year, we started accumulating domain knowledge and focusing on our industry.
Adapting to change
COVID-19 forced us to rethink how a hardware-focused team could operate remotely. We built a hybrid workflow combining remote collaboration with hands-on engineering and learned how to keep projects moving despite new constraints.
Growth through trust
Consistent delivery led to more referrals and long-term relationships. Gradually, new projects began coming through clients who already knew and trusted our work.
Relocation and resilience
With the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, we relocated the team from Kharkiv to Khmelnytskyi, in western Ukraine, set up a new R&D lab there, and rebuilt our workflow under completely new conditions. Despite the uncertainty, we kept ongoing projects running and maintained stable delivery for our clients.
Moving closer to real-world domains
As our experience grew, we started looking beyond individual projects and deeper into the industries our clients operate in. Understanding real operating conditions, field constraints, and product use cases became an important part of our engineering approach.
The shift: from executors to partners
By this stage, our role with many long-term clients had evolved beyond implementation. We became their engineering partners, getting involved earlier, helping shape requirements, define system architecture, assess technical risks, and make key decisions before development began. At the same time, we expanded into high-compliance Industries.
Expanding to new markets
We expanded our international presence and strengthened relationships with clients and partners, including establishing an R&D lab in Bristol, UK. This marked another step in UnioTech’s evolution into a mature engineering partner with broad industry expertise and structured development processes.
